Are you annoyed and frustrated by your lack of knowledge of the night sky?

Are you fed up with courses that do not make it clear what you need to know for the exam?

Are you angry hearing explanations that do not satisfy you?

Are you annoyed that you do not fully ‘get it’ while others seem to find it easy?

Are you afraid that you are not doing enough to ace the exams?

Are you afraid that the way you learn is not good enough to last until the exam?

Are you afraid you do not have enough time to spend on your studies?

Are you afraid you are being left behind?

Do you feel hopeless about the lack of time you invest in your own improvement?

My course on Astronomy will give you the courage to tell the difference in comets, stars, planets and have you comfortably sharing your knowledge of the night sky with pride. You will be filled with joy, amazement and interest at your own ability to point out the constellations and understand the science behind telescopes and the astronomical observations you can carry out.

On top of this, the explanations will leave you satisfied that you have a deep understanding of what happens in the night sky. You will learn how to study and memorise information in the most effective ways. You will have the tools to not only learn about Astronomy, but also how to quickly and accurately memorise any information so that you can confidently prepare for exams. Gone will be the anxiety of wondering about the quality of your learning and will it ‘stick’. You will feel emboldened by your learning and this will leave you enjoying your studies sure in the knowledge that you are doing enough to perform in the exams.

My course is completely online and flexible enough to fit around busy lives. You will not be swamped with information and have the flexibility to fit the work in when it suits you. This will give you a greater feeling of control over your improvement. You will feel secure in the knowledge that you have a plan in place and that you are investing in your own progress.

Can you point out which bright point in the night sky is Mars and which is Betelgeuse?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is the exam Pearson Edexcel GCSE

Yes

When does the exam take place?

Paper One ‘Naked-eye Astronomy’: Friday 11th June 2021 (Morning)

Paper Two ‘Telescope Astronomy’ : Wednesday 30th June 2021 (Morning)

I am struggling to find an exam centre (observations are the stumbling block):

Typically, for school students, the exam centre is the student’s school, but you must check this first, as this is completely out of our control and affects whether you will be able to take the exam or not.

If you are not a school student, typically a school local to you will allow you to take the exam as a private candidate. There are also private exam centres that administer exams.

You are required to carry out two observation projects from the specification. Part of the course will include guidance on how to carry out those observation tasks, however you must make arrangements with your chosen examination centre to complete and submit an Observation statement confirming that you have carried out the observations. You will not be graded on this observation – it is only necessary that they are completed – they are not marked.

If it is your intention to take the exam, it is therefore important that you are sure you can arrange to take the exam with your chosen centre and that they are happy to complete and submit the Observation statement. It should be noted that the exam centre will have a fee for this that you will have to pay.

If you are having difficulty arranging this, please get in touch and I will help you to sort it.

Do I need any reference or workbook?

No – all that you require to fully complete the course is provided. This will include e.g. videos, ebooks, activities and quizzes.

Do you need a microphone – is the lesson interactive?

You do not need a microphone. I do believe that feedback is essential, and so if you have any problems, you will have my personal email. I will answer all questions and will use your feedback so that the course evolves to suit the learners taking it.

The money is a problem.

The course is not cheap. This is because it really is a one stop shop for everything you will need to achieve your GCSE Astronomy. On top of that, included will be training in the best learning methods and exam techniques that you can apply to the rest of your life. I do believe that investing in your own education is the most profitable thing you can do and I am committed to ensuring that you receive more value in this course in terms of your improvement and confidence than the cost.

How many modules?

The full GCSE Astronomy course is covered. The total number of sections or modules will be 20 (or more if the feedback of students requires further clarification on aspects.)

What is the content of each module?

A brief outline of the course content is Planet Earth, Celestial Observations, the Moon, the Solar System, the history of Astronomy, the Sun, the Measurement of Time, carrying out Observations, Stars, Galaxies and Cosmology & Built in Exam Management to reduce Test Anxiety.

Is it one video lecture per module?

No – the number of video lectures vary per module depending on the needs of each section. E.g. Planet Earth is made up of 4 ebooks containing information and activities such as building a scale model Earth, 9 explanation videos and a quiz with answers to check your understanding.

How many hours is the course expected to take?

The course will be released in a way that requires you to do around two hours learning per week. This is a guide and will become shorter as your learning technique improves.

Can your study time be flexible? If I am having a busy week, can I catch up later?

Absolutely! You will have access to the lessons for life and so can follow your own personal schedule.

Is there a supporting textbook or is it all online videos?

Everything you need will be provided by the course. This includes ebooks, activities, practice questions and videos.

I am wondering if I can fit this in during my free time?

The advantage of this course is that it is completely online and you will be given all the tools needed to highlight, take notes on screen and pause and pick up where you left off inside the course. It is perfectly suited to be flexible enough to your lifestyle.

Do you offer a pay monthly scheme?

At this moment, there is no pay monthly scheme offered. It is important in any successful learning effort that you commit to finishing the course. You must set medium to long term goals and meet them. Part of making it more likely that you do this is making a significant investment in your studies.

Here are some typical comments I’ve received about the course:

I go out of my way to make sure that the pressure students feel about exams are addressed and instead of feeling worried and anxious about the exam, they will have a plan and know what they need to do.
